- Welcome to Crank the Engineer! -

Crank the Engineer is a 2D platformer with a retro-like cartoony art style and it features an innovative combat system, 4:3 aspect ratio, and bite-sized levels that can be completed in about a minute or less.

You, Dan the Crank, a 40-year-old who thrives one day to be a great engineer, finally gets the chance to become one after an accidental leak left a glitched AI to roam about the world and spawn robots to cause havoc!

You set out on a quest to stop Hank the Corrupted from causing further damage! Your mission is to travel through the city and get into the Lair of Great Engineers! You encounter robots, broken streets, and a flying monster along the way.

On the way, train yourself to become better at fighting off enemies and stop Hank's robots from causing further damage! You'll also find workbenches, which if you have enough can grant you amazing inventions that allows you to rapidly fire and even fly!

Install instructions

- Instructions for Windows -

1) Download the .zip file provided above.
2) Extract the file. You do not need to install anything to do so since a fresh installation of Windows will allow you to extract .zip files. 
3) Navigate into the folder and click on the Crank The Engineer.exe file.
4) If things go well, the game should run. Otherwise, see below for trouble shooting.

- Troubleshooting -

If the game doesn't run, follow these tips:

  • Please extract the file. Sorry for reiterating. But it's crucial. Many players are failing to run the program simply because they failed to extract the .zip folder.
  • Try disabling your antivirus or excluding the folder from being scanned by it. Don't worry as long as you are downloading from A Bit Studios itch.io page and not anywhere else, you will not get infected. I've haven't injected any malicious code into the projects, and you can use DnSpy to see the code for proof.
  • Reinstall the game. Your download is missing components like the Crank The Engineer_Data and MonoBleedingEdge folder.
  • Your computer might not meet the requirements to run Unity programs.
  • Try downloading an older version to see if it works.
